Summer Recap

From the MRCA President

It was a beautiful summer in Mount Royal!  We were fortunate to be able to return to summer activities and events this year and it was wonderful to reconnect with the community.  We saw the return of the Mini Mountaineers program and were thrilled to see members out playing tennis, basketball and soccer throughout the summer.

If you had a chance to walk past the Station House, you may have noticed that the garden beds in the front look wonderful.  That is thanks to our Director responsible for the Station House, Karen Craig.  She is also the person responsible for rentals so if you would like to rent the Station House (which I should mention now has Wifi), you can do so through our website or by contacting bookings@mrca.ca.

We had two fantastic summer students, Sydney and Lauren, who you may have met around the Station House which they took great care of over the season.  They worked hard on community development projects, heritage research and building up our communications throughout the summer.  They also created an Instagram account for the MRCA which you can follow at @mrca.yyc.

The Stampede BBQ had a great turnout at nearly 300 attendees.  We’d like to thank the organizing committee who helped make the event a success!

I’d also like to thank all the volunteers who worked the Casino in support of the MRCA the last weekend of August.  Your support is greatly appreciated as this an important fundraiser for the MRCA.

Lastly, I’m excited to share that the Progressive Dinner will return this year!  Please save the date for Saturday, November 5. If you’re interested in hosting any part of the dinner, please email Amanda at events@mrca.ca.

I look forward to connecting with more of you over the coming year.
